Our ballet classes follow the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus. The grades range from Pre – Primary (5 years) right through to the higher grades, or Majors for those who wish to take it that step further.
We also run beginners classes, ‘Dance with Melody Bear’, for children from 3 years old, these introduce them to some basic ballet steps in a fun way using songs, mime, games and various props!
For those students wanting to work on strengthening their ballet technique we have our Junior and Senior Progressing Ballet Technique classes - PBT.
PBT is a body strengthening and conditioning program that has been designed to help students technique, by focussing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise for all forms of dance. It focuses on core strength, weight placement and alighnment of the body which in turn also is good for avoiding injury or for rehibilitation.
Adult Classes
We have several dance classes aimed at adults, who want to restart dance after learning as a youngster or just to keep fit!
Adult Commercial Jazz - A great fun class which starts with a warm up and stretches, and then a dance routine.
Adult Tap - These classes are ideal for those wanting to re ignite their passion for Tap dance they did when they were younger, or as a new challenge. A good knowledge of the basics is needed for the Improvers classes.
Adult Ballet - A ballet class for adults with all the ballet moves adaptable to a variety of mobility levels. Some prior ballet knowledge for this class is advisable.
Wedding Dances
Whether it's something for your first dance or to kick off a hen / stag night, we have both options for you.
The Wedding Dance Package - This consists of 3/4 - 1 hour lessons (we suggest at least two), to make your first dance something to remember. Whether it's traditional or something a bit more unusual, we are happy to work with your requirements.
Hen / Stag Parties - This is a session of anything over an hour for groups of up to 15 people. Based on your theme for the night, we will teach you a routine to get the evening started. This can be also used to perform on the big day (if you can remember it after the night out to follow!). Sessions are run by the hour.
We also have our own company dancers which can be used for part of a reception cabaret or have been known to appear as part of a flashmob!
Something a bit different to add to your special day.
Contemporary classes are recommended for those taking GCSE and A Level dance, and also for those wanting to broaden their dance backgrounds. Open to students 11years +. Another form of dance training is advised for contemporary to cope with the extra strength, flexibilty and dance quality that this genre requires.
We do also have Lyrical classes for students school year 2 - 4 (Junior) and 5 - 7 (Senior), and year 8+ (Intermediate) which is a lovely freework class working on the lyrical quailities, emotive movement / expression, a contrast to the jazz classes.
Our Mini Movers and Jazz classes are fun and energetic, using up to date music from the charts which allows the children to ‘let their hair down’ whilst keeping fit at the same time.
Mini Movers: Age 4 - 6yrs
Junior - School Year 2 - 4
Senior - School Year 5 - 7
Intermediate - School Year 8 - 10
Advanced - On Ability
To assist with working on their overall jazz technique including turns, kicks and leaps and building up their strength and flexibity, we also offer our Technique and Conditioning sessions. This enables students to focus on the fundamentals of commercial dance, and work on their individual targets to obtain them.
We have various tap classes on offer at the school. Tip Tap Toe is for children aged 4 - 7 years, we have our Tap Teams (school years 2 +) and then our ISTD Grades 4 and above. Our classes will work on learning the basics of this fantastsic genre, including various compound steps, which we use in a fun routine each term and rhythm games. Once they have progressed they will go onto to have the opportunity to do the Grade 4 syllabus +, where they can take exams. All our classes will use engaging music (no more plinky plonky piano!). We also hold adult classes for those who fancy a different form of exercise and a giggle!! Available from 4 years+
